Isela Sotelo was born in East Los Angeles. She was passionate about music from a young age and began her career at an early age. She recorded several singles and participated in different productions during the 80's.
In 1982, she released her first single Angelito (Angel Baby) produced by Steve Rawlins, which charted on Latin Billboard's Hot 100. In 1983 she formed the duo After All, with singer Michael Cruz. The song Moments of Love, which came from this duo, became very popular and was used in the Brazilian TV Series Amor Com Amor Se Paga in 1984. In 1986 she recorded her first solo album, Dame Una Noche Más.
In 1989, Isela gave life to Ariel, The Little Mermaid, being her singing voice in the Latin Spanish dubbing of the film, and reprising his role in the television series (1992 to 1994) and its sequel (2000). In 1992, Isela Sotelo represented Venezuela at the Festival Internacional de la Canción de Viña del Mar.
From 1997 to 2015, Isela was the executive director of the Los Angeles Music and Art School. In 2005, Ms. Sotelo received the Union Bank/KCET Local Heroes Award in Arts Leadership, and in 2007 she was selected as one of La Opinión’s 30 Mujeres Destacadas (Distinguished Women) for her contributions to the Latino community.
Although now in a quieter way, Isela continues to give us musical contributions, being a voice that will remain for generations.
